Plaster of Paris(P.O.P.) has been used for centuries for mould making and casting. Its history stretches back to the Romans making replicas of Greek statues. Using plaster to encapsulate normal everyday glass jars it elevates them from the normal to the special.
The lids of the jars are polished steel and nickel or gold electroplated. This also makes the normal special. It shows the lids off in a new light from their mass produced origins.
Over time they will become worn, and with care, well worn.
