Plaster of Paris(P.O.P.) has been used for centuries for mould making and casting. Its history stretches back to the Romans making replicas of Greek statues.
Allowing plaster to mould itself around disposable plastic packaging creates vessels with intricate internal structures and soft organic external surfaces. The ubiquitous packaging, formed through industrial manufacturing processes, lends its form to vessels with interesting detail but does not have a value associated with its re-use. The plaster elevates these forms from the normal to the special.
The colours of the objects are inspired by the original contents of the packaging.
Over time they will become worn, and with care, well worn.
